Sunday Suprise

I was surprisingly able to fulfill the food challenge by cutting more than a few corners health-wise. For instance, 2 of my three milk servings were ice cream, and the third serving was cheese. Here's how it cooked out:
Breakfast-
2 eggs, Fried Zuchinni, Banana, A bagel and cream cheese
Snack 1-
Carrots and Grapes
Snack 2-
Cashews and Bread with Peanut Butter
Dinner-
Lightly fried rice with zuch, bacon, and egg.

That makes 5 oz of protein, 6 servings of grain, 3 servings of dairy, 3 servings of vegetables, and 2 servings of fruit. None of my grains were whole grains, a lot of my servings were fatty and sugary, but at least I got the recommended amount of food. I don't know if it was related to this or how much sleep I got, but I didn't feel the slightest need for a nap this afternoon/evening.

If I try this again, the biggest benefit would be more spacing out, more preparation, and healthier choices.

Saturday!

For Saturday, I completed my scheduling challenge.
I was at the same rate of success, 70/100. Getting up on time continued to be a big challenge, but doing the tasks I commit to was easy, when I finally got to it.

Successes: Did everything I agreed to do- ie the concert, feeding the cats twice and spending adequete time with them

Failures: late, as per my usual m.o.

Thursday

Not a great day for activity, but a day of good news. I received a conditional job offer, and had to perform an intricate physical. I will have to follow up with an exam on next Wednesday. Hopefully I will succeed and move forward.
I had a flub up that I haven't done for weeks- I had fast food. I was really held much longer than I thought I'd be so I was starving when I got out and Wendy's was right there. Still, at least I'm doing much better at eating regularly and recognizing hunger. Part of that was a lack of fizzy ale in the morning. I drank quite a bit of water to prepare.

Wednesday

This was by far my day of most activity this week. Not only was I up and about quite a bit, I was also physically active this day. I danced, along with Jinn, for a good hour and a half. It was exhausting and invigorating. A true highlight of the evening for myself was the opportunity to show Nelo some moves and see him put them into practice with his own creativity involved. I wish Calamitus could have made it to this fun group event, but the ice held him where he was.

Tuesday

Tuesday was my first attempt for scheduling, one of my challenges for this week. I did an okay job at sticking to my schedule. One of the really good things I did was leave space in the schedule. Usually my instinct is to stack and have all of the events one after the other. But when I schedule that way, it is a domino affect of unproductivity when I miss just one thing, because everything is set off. When I scheduled my gap for this day, I was able to use it to make up for earlier missed events. Overall, I'd rate my scheduling prowess for the day at a 70/100, which is just barely passing. I obviously need to improve this score, and hope to do so this Saturday, to help relieve the stress of a very stacked day.

Some victories were being able to get up within 40 minutes of my expected wake time, not taking a time-gouging nap (or any nap really) and getting more tasks done than the day previous.

Some downfalls were the tasks I didn't accomplish (vacuuming for instance) and not getting up at the first alarm. I also didn't schedule anything too healthy.

Monday

On Monday, I wasn't very active, but I got to bed early (a true victory in my general schedule) and I only drank water, which is also quite rare. I also got the opportunity to sub in one of my old positions for a bit. It was only an hour, but it was nice.

Sunday

Today I made a 45 minute appearance at Gym with Biirna, and ate my final helping of squash as a midnight snack. That brings the weekly squash total to three (Tuesday with Biirna, Wednesday with Calamitus, and Sunday alone).

Saturday, Funday

Yesterday I was incredibly proud of my scheduling prowess. I was able to get up very early (considering my usual wake time) and spend an hour to an hour and a half at Gym with Biirna and Calamitus.I spent the rest of the day according to plan, with shopping, nachos, a good movie, and dinner. It was a very long day, but worth it.

Bad News

Today has been a disconcerting day, to put the least. I received some bad news about my funds and have yet to receive news of new fund opportunities. My journal device has also finally thrown in the towel, so I will need to wait a while to get it fixed. At this point, I am depending on the kindness of classmates so share my journal messages, and a special thanks to Calamitus tonight, for the use of his journal device.

I am fairly proud of myself on two accounts. When I received the bad news, I decided to go for a walk. I made it all the way to Scio church and turned around, and the walk really cooled off my temper. I'd say the walk was a half-an hour, and one that my upsetness really needed just to reflect and reformulate a plan.

I also had my second helping of squash this week, this time acorn squash. It wasn't as good as the butternut squash, honestly, but we'll keep trying each kind until we decipher my favorite.

Wednesday

I spoke to a local zen master and he warned me about attaining balance. I didn't understand what he meant until I knocked over a couple of his clay pots. Thankfully they were sturdy enough to undergo my clumsiness. Seeing the wisdom of this master, I sat down with him and discussed a plan for balance. He wanted me to focus on what I put into my body as a means of keeping myself level, first and foremost, so since our meeting I've been keeping in mind the portions we discussed- 6 glasses of water, 2 fruits, 3 vegetables, 2 meats, 3 dairy, and 6 grains.

He also insisted that we lead through a half an hour of yoga, though he allowed me to use my game as a guide. When we were done, in the mind of balance, I decided to remove the stink of yoga-sissy by partaking in some boxing and swordplay, also for a half an hour. When I completed this, I realized I could take on the challenge and rescue the ring from the greedy shopkeeper (not affiliated with our proud school, of course). I am excited to see the powers endowed by this ring and the Ogre teeth that Biirna and I found yesterday at Gym.

We'll see how my course of balance progresses, while I'm balancing it with my activities and the Headmaster's challenges. Hopefully, it will become natural with time.

Monday and Tuesday's Log

After my final post Sunday, I was able to play 20 minutes of games before finally making it to bed.

On Monday I didn't do too much in activity, and I was lame when it came to food, though I did do quite a bit of water. I also was able to sneak in 20 minutes of game play this night.

Tuesday was an entirely different story, because I was as active as a frog. I spent one hour at Gym with Biirna and Nelo, and we also made a meal of lean meats and incorporate squash.

Biirna and I met with the Ogre, and he did seem nice enough, though he burped an awful lot.

Weekend Wrap

I'd like to end this week by listing my Broccoli victories, because I worry I didn't put them in a previous post, or perhaps missed one.
Monday- Broccoli Cheese Soup
Tuesday- Broccoli Potato Wedges
Wednesday- Boiled Broccoli
Friday- Broccoli cold
Saturday- Broccoli Risotto Cakes

I also got in a half an hour of physical gaming to end my night, but now I am truly off to bed.

Sunday's Boss Battle

Today we met with a fierce competitor- the school grounds. We walked for an hour straight, with a dexterity, stamina, and speed challenge. I missed out on the gym tour, but I heard it was fun for everyone involved.
Yesterday some students and I walked the 'bazaar' for 2-3 hours. I inadvertently ate vegetarian for the whole day, and ended the run on some awesome risotto cakes. I think I will be having risotto again tonight, and on Tuesday. Can't get enough.
I am also working on a challenge issued by the headmaster as of now, and will be done by the time I rest tonight.

Hockey Time

I went with all current members of our class (one is on hiatus- the half giant or what not, for the time being, some secret assignment) to the game of the final member of the class. We got food before hand which was delightful, and I made a vegetarian choice with my meal. I'd like to say it was on purpose, but I'm actually starting to get grossed out by the thought of meat. Weird.

I also got in another serving of broccoli, even if it is not going to help my progress to winning because I shared it with other class members. At least I know I am lapping Calamitus in my broccoli intake, and was impressed with his dexterity in tonight's game.

Food Food Everywhere

Today I did a kind deed. I know, the phrase sickens me for it's weakness, but I suppose it has some advantages in terms of 'brownie points'. I woke this morning earlier than I would have liked to make a breakfast of fried peppers, scrambled eggs, and dry toast, along with a measly portion of fresh squeezed orange juice. While I partook of half the meal, it was a favor to another student to help him prepare for an upcoming task.
In response to Biirna's earlier question, I have i fact had a serving of broccoli everyday this week, except for today. I intend to make up for it tomorrow, by having two servings. I think this pace is a good one to over take the vegetable challenge, although I see Jinn is a great competitor in this as well. Some people weren't even aware of the challenge until last night, which give me a great advantage over them, but again in my weakness, I gave him some of my own broccoli last night. In fact, I made a feast of a meal, but didn't have the gut to swallow it all, so I invited him to have whatever he wanted of it. There was still enough for leftovers tonight, so that's what I had instead. Now that I think about it, I am a little hungry. Perhaps a midnight snack of broccoli is in order?
I also started the day with two servings of fruit, and then wasn't able to have any more. Perhaps for now I have a limit of two servings of anything a day (except the delightful fizzy ale).

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Today I got fruit in during two meals, and vegetables during two meals as well, along with three glasses of water. I played Wii island for a half an hour, but was thwarted from my Yoga class because of timing. I am sure I will get a chance to go later this week.

Tireless Training

Today I met with my challenge as administered by the Headmaster herself, to find and attend an extracurricular class. I found one within my price range after a bit of searching, which also fits an interest for me. I will be attending a yoga class tomorrow with Biirna.

Today's activities were limited in the physical realm with mild walking (shopping trip) and a bit of stretching. Nothing to note. In food, however, I excelled, with a a fruit smoothie, Dinner I made myself of Broccoli and cheese soup (with a smattering of cream cheese- it's nice). I also have a broccoli plan for tomorrow night, and a home meal for Wednesday. My week's food are set up.

A Continuing Trend

Again I find myself checking in later than necessary. Well, alls well that is written well.

I had a mostly uneventful weekend, with very little water and activity. I took that to heart Saturday night and engaged in 'Home Training' for 10 minutes, and then worked on separate tasks the rest of the night, including a little research into appropriate games that might help my own motivation, and the motivation of select other students. I shared that information with Jinn, because I noticed she enjoys dancing.

Today I went over to a local house and entertained myself with their games while they made me select meat products encased in a sausage like form. They referred to them as dogs. Finally, when they saw the great fun that I was having with activities like dancing, table tennis, and bowling, they decided to join in. Though I was there for 4 hours, my actual play time probably ranged around 45 minutes to 1 hour.

I also partook in quite a bit of walking this weekend, between visiting the local shops (that are all housed indoors) and visiting a library for members of the law. I would say for Saturday I walked for 35 minutes, and today for 20 minutes.

Well, I should be off to bed to see what advantages I can take of the new day.

Late in the Eve

I write this quite late at night, about to bed. I had a number of assigned, lowly tasks to see to tonight which kept me from this journal, but I took those as challenges to see how I could accomplish everything I needed.
First, when I arrived last night, as many of you may know, the cook was absent. So I had to choose between going to the tavern or finding my own food. I cooked a pheasant in a southern rub, with egg dough noodles and pheasant drippings. I also had some corn in my wares, and heated it up alongside.
For today I cannot claim such a feat in food, having traveled to the tavern in celebration of an extra special assignment I received for tomorrow. Directly after I had to run to the local shoppe and then do my wash. When I finally returned home, it was late, but I had to put my clothes away in an orderly fashion. So I decided to tackle the dancing badge right away, and I danced while putting my clothes into their hanging positions. I doubled the time I would have normally spent on the dancing in case I got distracted with clothes and half-reared my task.
I also spent time playing with the barn cats while my clothes were soaking, and it was much appreciated by them.

First Full Day, ie checking out the talent

Today was mostly administrative. They didn't really get us involved in real training, but more tried to prepare us for future training. I can get behind that. Thieves have to be as prepared as possible before a heist, so I can see how that would come in handy as a student. I just can't wait to get started, my first lesson will be tomorrow. I'll probably start by tackling a badge.
